British Most Worried About Immigration

The British, it is alleged, spend a lot of their time complaining about too much immigration to this overcrowded island, this sceptered isle.

Well, maybe it’s true. According to the latest annual survey by the international polling organisation Transatlantic Trends the British are more concerned about immigration than Americans and Europeans from a range of countries, and about three-quarters of the British who were asked said that they thought that the Government was doing a poor job in managing immigration.

The sample of Britons were also asked what they thought was the proportion of the British population who were immigrants and the average figure they came up with was 31%. In fact it is about 12%.

This, of course – as Gordon Brown discovered – is the reality that political parties in the UK have to deal with.
